Implications of the Event
As mentioned, this case created the 'separate but equal' maxim that was milked into every form of life. With this phrase in circulation, the deterrents to equality between races became exponentially larger. While the conditions were typically much worse for African Americans then for Caucasians. Plessy versus Ferguson did create some benefits. Of course it helped since it showed how the obviously barbaric rules were just that, and it was an example of how others could act up against the oppression of the civil rights of the African American population, as well as non-Caucasians in general.

Sadly, the large part of the repercussions of this case are the lack of African Americans in having a way to break through the oppression that was forced upon them. The case, having been lost, become a bit of a detriment. Of course, the argument that it would have happened at some point and better sooner than later can apply. The theory that, if not now, then it would happen later. Even more, I am sure that there aren't any regrets about the actions taken by Homer Plessy held by anyone who was being discriminated against.
